Hi my name is Becky and I live in Barne Barton in Plymouth and I got involved with Timebank South West in 2012. I joined as a member and went on to train as a Volunteer Broker to help arrange swaps and activities in my local community.
Timebank gave me lots of opportunities to learn new skills and I attended training in Timebanking, Presentation Skills, Communication Skills and Equality & Diversity. My confidence and volunteer hours grew rapidly!
I love meeting people and seeing the difference that Timebank can make to an area, there is no one best bit about being a involved, it’s all great and you feel a sense of achievement when doing it. I got involved so that I could help build and influence the community and make a difference to people’s lives. In doing this I made an improvement to my own life by becoming more confident and more productive.
I have gone on to speak at lots of events and conferences locally and regionally
about my experience of Timebanking. I am now a Trustee of Timebank South West and I have taken on the role of Treasurer, which I really enjoy as I am continuing to learn new things with Timebank. The main thing I take away from Timebanking is that I can do anything I put my mind to and you should never label yourself, or doubt yourself.
